June 16, 2014 – Halifax, N.S. – Mr. Thomas J. Hayes has been appointed by the Province of Nova Scotia as the provincial director to the Halifax Port Authority board of directors.
Mr. Hayes brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the Port of Halifax. As president and CEO of Growth Works Atlantic Ltd., Mr. Hayes has gained national and international experience in the private sector. He previously served as chair of the Halifax-Dartmouth Port Development Commission, chair of the board of governors of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council and has worked as CEO of Atlantic Fish Specialties Ltd., and chief of staff in the office of former Premier Russell MacLellan.

In addition to Geoff Machum, Tom Hayes joins Vice-Chair David Henderson and directors Anne Galbraith, Hector Jacques, Ted Larsen and Lantz Siteman.
